Iraqi Quran Competition for Students May Go International

IQNA – The 7th edition of the Quran competition for students of Iraq’s universities wrapped up as an official has called for holding the competition at the international level.

The winners of the top three ranks were Mustafa Mayuf, Ibrahim Hassan Yalud and Muhammad Zahir Fawzi, respectively. 

The competition was organized by the Dar-ol-Quran Center of the Astan (custodianship) of Imam Hussein (AS) holy shrine in cooperation with the Imam Kadhim (AS) Higher Education Center.

According to Karrar al-Shamari, head of the Dar-ol-Quran Center’s media office, the closing ceremony featured a beautiful Quran recitation performance by renowned qari Adil al-Karbalayi and a speech by Sheikh Khayruddin al-Hadi, head of the center.

In his address, Sheikh al-Hadi highlighted the growth of the Quranic movement in Iraq and the successful participation of Iraq’s representatives in international Quran contest.

He said the Quran competition for university students flourishes the available Quranic potentials and enhances Iraq’s Islamic and cultural identity.  

He called for the contest to be organized at the international level with the cooperation of the Iraqi higher education ministry.
