Moroccan Actor Arrested for Insulting Remarks on Islam
TEHRAN (IQNA) – Morocco’s police have taken an actor into custody for making insulting remarks about Islam.
Bubakr Rafiq had made the remarks in a video clip recently, al-Mesryoon website reported.
The video has caused anger and heated debates in social media, prompting the country’s judiciary to launch an investigation.
The actor is scheduled to appear before a court on July 15.
Morocco’s prosecutor office has also ordered those involved in making the film to be investigated.
Morocco is a country in the Maghreb region of North Africa with a population of more than 36 million.
Islam is the largest religion in Morocco, with roughly 99.9 percent of the population adhering to it.
