According to the website of the Astan, it is one of the measures taken by the Astan ahead of Arbaeen (the 40th day after the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (AS) in Karbala).
The 50 electronic gates have been installed on the main entrances of the holy shrine of Imam Hussein (AS) following the guidelines set by Sheikh Abdul Mahdi Al-Karbalayi, the custodian of the holy shrine.
Rasoul Fazalah, head of the electronic security branch of the Astan, said that besides security checking, the gates can check the body temperature and count the number of pilgrims.
Among other programs of the Astan for Arbaeen are the establishment of Quranic booths on the roads towards Karbala.
Health protocols are fully observed in the booths to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
Recitation of Surah Fatiha and some other Surahs of the Quran is taught and the objectives of Imam Hussein’s (AS) uprising are explained to those visiting the booths.
