Egypt Gifts Qurans, Religious Books to Mauritius

TEHRAN (IQNA) – Egypt’s ambassador to the Republic of Mauritius gifted copies of the Holy Quran to the heads of the island country’s religious and Quranic centers.

 

The Quran copies gifted by Aya Saad, the ambassador, included translations of the Holy Book in different languages.

There were also religious books that were given to heads of Quranic and religious centers, including the Bayt-ul-Quran Center.

Egypt’s Ministry of Awqaf provided the books.

Ms Saad expressed hope that the books will be helpful in countering inaccurate views of Islam as well as extremist ideologies.

The Republic of Mauritius is an island nation in the Indian Ocean about 2,000 kilometers off the south-east coast of the African continent.

It includes the eponymous main island of Mauritius and Rodrigues, Agaléga and St. Brandon.

Muslims constitute over 17 per cent of Mauritius population. Muslims of the country are mostly of Indian descent.
