TEHRAN (IQNA) – Saudi Arabia’s Hajj and Umrah officials have given the greenlight for Egypt to resume sending Umrah pilgrims to the kingdom.

Hisham Saeed, the deputy minister for Hajj and Umrah services, said Umrah (minor Hajj) flights from Egypt will start on Wednesday, RT Arabic reported.

He said it has been decided to open the doors for Umrah pilgrimage to Egyptians starting from December 1.

According to the official, more details will be announced at a press conference to be held on Sunday.

Saudi Arabia’s Interior Ministry had said earlier this week that it would allow direct entry to the Kingdom from 6 countries without the need to spend 14 days outside it, with the implementation of an institutional quarantine for a period of 5 days, starting from one o’clock in the morning on December 1

Umrah is a pilgrimage to Mecca which Muslims can traditionally take at any time of the year, unlike Hajj pilgrimage that can be performed only in the first days of the lunar Hijri month of Dhul Hajja.
