TEHRAN (IQNA) – The second edition of an advanced Quran teacher training course for the forces of the Popular Mobilization Units (PMU) has begun in Iraq.

The Dar-ol-Quran Center affiliated to the Astan (custodianship) of the holy shrine of Imam Hussain (AS) has organized the course.

Ali Hadi, head of the center’s Quran teaching department, said 22 member of the PMU (which is also known as Hashd al-Shaabi) have taken the course.

He noted that it is held every day in the morning and afternoon sessions and will continue for a week.

It is aimed at training qualified teachers of the Quran, Hadi went on to say.

He added that a number of prominent Quran experts, including Sheikh Bassim al-Abedi, Murtadha Jamaleddin, Alu Aboud al-Ataei, Fallah Zelif and Safa al-Silawi will teach the course.

The lessons are on Quranic sciences, Tajweed, memorization, Sawt (melodious voice) and Lahn (rhythm), among others, Hadi noted.

The PMU is a government-sponsored umbrella organization composed of around 40 factions of volunteer counter-terrorism forces, including mostly Shia Muslim groups like Asa'ib, besides Sunni Muslims, Christians and Kurds.
