24,000 Partake in Quran Contest for IRGC Staff Families

TEHRAN (IQNA) – The final round of the 12th edition of the Quran competition for family members of the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) personnel will kick off in the holy city of Mashhad, northeast Iran, on Monday.

This is according to Hojat-ol-Islam Zanganeh, who is in charge of the IRGC’s Cultural Organization, adding in a press conference on Saturday that more than 24,000 individuals participated in the preliminary round of the Quranic event.

They competed in six categories, including memorization of the Quran (at three levels), recitation, Tarteel and Quranic concepts, he noted.

The cleric added that 12,000 made it to the semifinals and from among them, 1376 contestants qualified for the final stage.

Hojat-ol-Islam Zanganeh said the finals will start in Mashhad on Monday and run for three days.

Winners will be announced and awarded in a ceremony that will be held at the Quds Hall of the holy mausoleum of Imam Reza (AS) on Thursday, he stated.

As for the panels of judges, he said 5 panels for the women section and three panels for the men section will assess the performances of the contenders in the finals.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Hojat-ol-Islam Zanganeh highlighted the Quranic activities of the IRGC Cultural Organization in different fields such as training Quran teachers and holding courses on Tajweed, recitation, interpretation, translation, Quran concepts and contemplating the Quran.
