Mehdi Qarasheikhlu, head of the Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization’s Quranic Affairs Center, told IQNA that it began on Saturday and will continue until June 20.
There will be some changes in this year’s competition, he said, noting that some of the categories will be deleted and some others will be merged.
The decision for making some of these changes has been made after consultations with Quran experts and veteran Quran activists, he said.
A new technical regulation for the competition is being drafted and will be ready in ten days, Qarasheikhlu further said.
Iran’s national Quran competition is annually held by the Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization with the participation of top Quran activists from across the country.
It is aimed at discovering Quranic talents and promoting Quranic activities in society.
Last year, the final round was held in the holy city of Qom the participation of 535 Quran activists from all over the country.
