TEHRAN (IQNA) – Al-Aqsa Mosque Preacher Sheikh Ekrima Sabri says the holy place is being targeted by Zionist plots and Palestinians need to confront them.

Friday prayers at Al-Aqsa Mosque Compound

He made the remarks during the Friday prayers sermon at the Al-Aqsa Mosque Compound.

Some 50,000 Palestinians from different regions took part in the Friday prayers despite tight security restrictions imposed by the Israeli regime, according to the Palestinian Information Center.

Sheikh Sabri called on the Palestinian nation to have a persistent presence at the Mosque, naming people as guardians of the Palestinian lands and beliefs.

According to the directions of God Almighty, the Al-Aqsa Mosque only belongs to Muslims.

The mosque faces various threats and the aggression of the Zionist enemy against the mosque continues, he said, calling on people to resist in the face of these plots.

Some 10 days ago, the Israeli regime extended an imposed travel ban on Sheikh Sabri.

The Israeli authorities previously arrested Sabri and prevented him from entering the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound for several months, after he publicly denounced what he described as the "occupation's violations against Palestinians."
