Palestinian Quranic Scholar Dies at 74

TEHRAN (IQNA) – Sheikh Salah Abdul Fattah al-Khaledi, a senior Palestinian scholar in the field of Quranic sciences and interpretation, passed away.

He died of the coronavirus on Friday at age 74, Arabi21.com website reported.

Al-Khaledi was born in Jenin, Palestine, in December 1947.

He began seeking knowledge by obtaining a scholarship for Egypt’s Al-Azhar Islamic University in 1965.

There, he attended Al-Azhar secondary school, then entered the Sharia college and graduated from it in 1970.

He then studied a master’s degree in 1977 at Imam Muhammad University in Riyadh, and the thesis he presented was entitled “Sayyid Qutb and Artistic Painting in the Quran”.

Al-Khaledi obtained a doctorate degree in interpretation and Quranic sciences in 1984 from the same university, and the thesis was entitled “In the shadows of the Quran”.

He has written numerous books on Quran interpretation and in some of them has discussed the Quran’s scientific miracles.

“Sayyid Qutb: The Living Martyr”, “Corrections in Understanding Some Verses”, “The Jewish Personality through the Quran: History, Traits and Fate”, “Keys to Dealing with the Quran” and “Quranic facts about the Palestinian cause” are the titles of some of his books.
