IQNA – Resistance commanders Lt. General Qassem Soleimani and Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis were great fighters who achieved victory over global terrorism.

This is according to Muhand Najm Abd al-Aqabi, director of the public relations office of Iraq’s Hashd al-Shaabi, also known as Popular Mobilization Units (PMU), addressing an international webinar on “Globalization of Resistance; Achievement of Martyr Soleimani’s School.”

The webinar was held by the International Quran News Agency (IQNA) on Monday.

“Role of Martyr Soleimani in reviving the resistance front and turning it into a regional and global power,” and “effects of General Soleimani and Soleimani School on creating a change in current world order and transition to new world order” were the two main themes of the online seminar.

It was also addressed by Abu Samir Musa, a senior member of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad movement, Sheikh Qazi Yusuf Hunaina, head of Lebanon’s Association of Muslim Scholars, and Abu Wassam Mahfouz Munawwar, head of the foreign relations office of the Islamic Jihad movement.

General Soleimani, the commander of the Islamic Revolution Gurads Corps Quds Force, and al-Muhandis, the deputy head of Iraq’s PMU, along with a number of their companions, were assassinated in a US drone attack on Baghdad International Airport in January 3, 2020.

In his speech, al-Aqabi said that no matter how much is said or written about Martyrs Soleimani and al-Muhandis, it would not be enough to clarify on a fraction of what the two resistance commanders did for the Muslim world, for oppressed nations, and for humanity.

What they did went beyond the Islamic world and Muslim nations, he stressed, adding that they served non-Muslims like Christians, Izadis, and others, especially in Iraq.

Al-Aqabi said the US and the Zionist regime thought that with the martyrdom of Gen. Soleimani and al-MUhandis, Islamic resistance will collapse but, to the contrary, their martyrdom strengthened resistance more and led to its further spread among people in Muslim countries.

As for Iraq, the martyrdom of the two resistance commander made the country stronger and more determined in the fight against terrorism, he said, adding that it also intensified the Iraqi people’s hatred toward the US and the Zionist regime.

Furthermore, their martyrdom made the PMU stronger, he said. “Before they were martyred, we had 200,000 in the PMU but today and in this moment, we talk about more than 2.5 million fighters.”

Pointing to the popularity of the two martyrs, he said commemoration ceremonies for them that started three weeks ago still continue in Iraq.

“So far, more than 800 commemorations have been organized in Baghdad and other governorates of Iraq,” he noted.

Al-Aqabi also highlighted the growing voice of resistance in the region and the world following the martyrdom of Gen. Soleimani and al-Muhandis, saying the voice of Gaza and Palestine is louder than that of the Zionist regime, the US and their allies today.

“This voice has reached the entire world and has shattered the false image of grandeur and power of the Zionist regime in the world’s minds.

“Today the image of the Zionist regime in the world is that of a barbaric, murderous and bloodthirsty force.”
