IQNA – The Islamic Culture and Relations Organization (ICRO) condemned the desecration of the Holy Quran outside a mosque in Stockholm, Sweden.

Sweden police allow Quran desecration outside mosque on Eid

Two individuals burned a copy of the Holy Book outside the mosque in the Swedish capital on Wednesday as Muslims were celebrating Eid al-Fitr.

They had reportedly received permission for the act of sacrilege and burned the Quran under police protection.

In a statement, ICRO deplored the police protection for the blasphemous act, saying it indicates that the European country’s authorities have failed to learn a lesson from similar incidents in the past year.

It also shows the systematic anti-Quran approach in Sweden, the statement said, adding that Muslims consider what happened in Stockholm on the day of Eid to be an insult to their sanctities from the country’s political and security establishments.

The statement also said the fact that this offensive act took place as the Israeli regime is facing successive defeats in the Gaza Strip shows that the move is aimed at drawing the world’s public opinion away from the Zionists’ defeats in the war.

The Islamic Culture and Relations Organization strongly denounced the Quran desecration in Stockholm and called on the Swedish government and security apparatuses to end their confrontation with Muslims.
