This is according to Nazir Ayad, the secretary general of Al-Azhar’s Islamic studies center, Cairo24 website reported.

He said Al-Azhar chief Sheikh Ahmed al-Tayeb is evaluating a plan for establishing the Quranic printing complex.

He added that there have been many complaints to the center regarding the existence of typing and other errors in printed copies of the Holy Book.

According to Ayad, this happens despite extensive and precise supervision by the center’s Quranic Committee on the printing and publication of Qurans.

He said he has proposed the plan for establishing the Quran printing complex to specialized committees to determine the details, objectives and financing issues.

Then the plan was submitted to the Al-Azhar chief for final decision, he noted.

Ayad also said that with the implementation of the plan, all permissions given to private sector publishers to print the Quran will be suspended and Quran printing will be done only by the complex, with the approval of the Islamic Studies Centers and under the direct supervision of the Al-Azhar chief.
