IQNA – The sound of explosions have been heard near the central Iranian city of Isfahan and Tabriz in the country's northwest after air defense systems fired at "suspicious objects" early Friday.

Officials said important facilities in the Isfahan province, especially nuclear facilities, are completely safe and no accidents have been reported.

"The sound was related to Isfahan's air defense systems firing at suspicious objects and we have not had any damage or accident," Brigadier Siavash Mihandoust, senior Army commander in Isfahan province, said Friday.

The Iran Airports and Air Navigation Company said normal operations have resumed for flights at Iranian airports including Imam Khomeini International Airport and Mehrabad International Airport in Tehran after temporary delays.

This comes as Western media claim that the Israeli regime had launched an aerial attack against targets inside Iran.

Iranian officials have warned that any Israeli attack on Iranian soil or interest will be met with devastating response.

The Israeli regime launched a deadly attack on April 1 against the Islamic Republic’s diplomatic premises in the Syrian capital Damascus.

The Israeli attack resulted in the martyrdom of Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Zahedi, a commander of the Quds Force of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), his deputy, General Mohammad Hadi Haji Rahimi, and five of their accompanying officers.

In retaliation, the IRGC targeted the occupied territories late on Saturday with a barrage of drones and missiles. The retaliatory strikes, dubbed Operation True Promise, inflicted damage on Israeli military bases across the occupied territories.
