IQNA – A Bahraini rights activist described Iran’s recent missile and drone attack against the Israeli regime as a wise and smart move.

Bahraini rights activist Baqer Darwish

The Iranian attack that took place in response to the Zionist regime’s stark violation of international laws and norms was wise and smart in terms of decision-making, planning and implementation, Head of the Bahrain Human Rights Society Baqer Darwish said.

He made remark while addressing an international webinar held on Sunday about Iran’s unprecedented missile and drone strike on the Zionist regime.

Organized by the International Quran News Agency (IQNA), the webinar, titled “True Promise; Iranian Might and Punishing the Aggressor” was also addressed by representative of the Lebanese Amal movement Salah Fahs, Lebanese scholar Sheikh Youssef Qarout and Cultural Deputy of the University of Religions and Sects Abbas Khameyar.

On April 1, the Israeli regime committed a terrorist attack against Iran’s diplomatic premises in the Syrian capital Damascus.

The Israeli attack resulted in the martyrdom of Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Zahedi, a commander of the Quds Force of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), his deputy, General Mohammad Hadi Haji Rahimi, and five of their accompanying officers.

Retaliating against the attack, the IRGC targeted the occupied territories late on Saturday with a barrage of drones and missiles. The retaliatory attack, dubbed Operation True Promise, has inflicted damage on Israeli military bases across the occupied territories.

Following the reprisal, Iran both relayed the message that it viewed the matter as “concluded,” and also warned of a “bigger” response in case the regime or its allies target Iran.

In his speech at the Sunday webinar, Baqer Darwish said Operation True Promise against the Zionist regime’s military positions was a legal and legitimate move.

First of all, the operation was carried out against a regime that has committed the worst crimes against the Palestinian nation and other nations in the region for decades, he said, referring to the genocidal war in the Gaza Strip as the latest example of this heinous crimes.

He added that according to Article 51 of the UN Charter, responding to an act of aggression has been clearly referred to a legitimate act of defense and, therefore, no one can describe Iran’s operation as a move violating international laws.

The decision to carry out the attack was a hundred percent legal and there is no doubt about it, Darwish underlined.

“Definitely, we, as the nations of the region that have seen the crimes committed by the illegitimate Israeli regime against the occupied Palestinian lands and the interests of the regional countries, were happy to see this (anti-Israeli attack),” he further said.

He also highlighted the plight of people in the Gaza Strip and said civil societies in different countries must support Palestine and those backing the Palestinian people, including the Islamic Republic of Iran.
